This week's rankings still haven't stabilized to the point where I'm comfortable posting a bubble watch. The two things to address are:
#1: The mid-major darling of my heart, UMASS is presently at #6 this week.
#2: Last week on my Facebook link, a viewer asked what drove the difference between Oregon and Iowa State's rankings (13 vs. 2) and suspected that it was Iowa State's additional neutral based wins that was the cause of the difference. I responded that it was the difference and noted that Oregon faced two stiff road tests this week in Utah (then 39) and Colorado (then 15) and that those games would tell us quite a bit about Oregon. The Ducks survived Utah but suffered their first road loss of the season to the Buffaloes. You'll note that the change in Oregon's ranking was immaterial, dropping from 13 to 16. Iowa State won both of their games this week, albeit vs. inferior competition (Texas Tech, Northern Illinois) and they have dropped slightly to #4 as other teams have surpassed them.
